Professor Nader Francis

MBChB, FRCS, FEBS(hon), PhD Director of Training

Nader is an expert colorectal surgeon at Yeovil, committed to minimal invasive surgery and enhanced recovery. He is a passionate teacher and educator with an educational PhD in assessment of surgical skills, which underpins his national and international expertise as a trainer and educational lead in the field of laparoscopic colorectal surgery.

Nader Francis has presented widely as speaker, chairman and organiser of educational events and national and international conferences. His educational expertise lies around designing, delivering and assessing educational curricula, including designing objective assessment tools. Over the past 10 years, he has designed and led the delivery of numerous training curricula at both national and international level. He recently served as the National Educational Tutor for Coloproctology for the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and as the Director of Medical Education at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Nader is currently Chair of the Research Committee of the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery with a research focus on education, colorectal cancer, laparoscopic surgery and perioperative care. He has been chief investigator of a number of studies and has presented and published widely.
